PNG Conus Shell & Gold Earrings

Old conus shell rings, originally part of tribal ritual and ceremonial ornament from coastal areas of Papua New Guinea. These finely worked and worn shell elements are fixed to a central ring and fan out in much the same way as when worn by the tribal people who carved them. Shell assemblage hangs from a beautiful hand hammered 22kt gold post, approximately 4cm in overall length.
