PNG Boars Tusk Pendant on Necklace of Shell & Tortoise

This fabulous and very old coir, coconut fibre, wrapped boar's tusk is originally part of a pectoral pendant from Papua New Guinea. Islanders were enamored of adornment for ceremonial and ritual occasions and this item would have been a significant feature. Framed by 22kt gold endcaps and hanging sumptuously from Papuan conus and tortoise shell rings, interspersed with shell and ancient rock crystal beads. Incredibly exotic and unique!
