Ancient Turquoise Melon Bead on Akoya Strand

This ancient turquoise bead has been crafted into this gorgeous melon shape by craftsmen living in the valley between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Turquoise originated from the mines in Neyshabur, Iran (Persia) and ancient Egyptian mines in the Sinai. This fine example is clearly incredibly ancient with its softened colour and obvious carving techniques. Elegantly hanging from this superb Japanese akoya pearl strand and interspersed with 22kt gold melon beads and Tiffany favrille glass highlights. Superb!
