PNG Shell Earrings

Very old and luxuriously 'worn' conus shell money item from Papua New Guinea. Originally used as 'kula', an item used within the tribal barter system still in practice in Pacific Island cultures today. Beautifully detailed here with 22kt gold, dropping 5.5cm from a finely hammered gold ear post.
