PNG Conus Shell Disc Earrings

These fabulous disc forms hail from the highlands of Papua New Guinea. Tribal Papuans have adorned themselves with the ritual wear of their ancestors for time immemorial, and objects such as these were passed down through generations. The age and use of these shell objects is clearly evident as they form a magnificent ear piece held by a hammered disc shaped 22kt gold structure and hanging from a domed post, approximately 5cm overall length.
