PNG Carved Bone & Pearl Earrings

Extraordinary and unique, these carved canine tooth earrings hail from the mountainous regions of Papua New Guinea and were originally worn by tribal chiefs to signify wealth and power as well as used within the 'kula' trade and barter system for bridal payments. Artfully combined here in 22kt gold caps with pearl detail and hanging from an akoya pearl post approximately 6cm.
