Ancient Black Collection

This stunning collection of jewellery presents an array of finely crafted stones and relics, that ancient jewellers would craft into items of adornment to reflect the wealth, status and power of the elite.

Fluted melon beads of turquoise and gold, deep blue lapis lazuli, polished jade and beautifully formed carnelians and agates were all prized for their protective and mystical qualities and traded extensively between the privileged populations of the world's first cities, dating back to the third millennium BC.

The rudimentary drilling techniques and uneven polish of these unique beads are a clear indication of their ancient origins. Many were unearthed in archaeological excavations amongst the ruins of cities, once awash with regal splendour . . . brought back to their original elegance in the Ancient Black Collection.
